Where I've come from...
I originally grew up in Melbourne Victoria. I did the usual kid things, school, Little Athletics, preferring middle and long distance as I could go into my own zone and gymnastics.
My knees where shot by my mid teens, so didn't get involved much in any sports again till my late 20's. During which time I worked for 15 years in the horse racing industry in Vic and N.S.W, with commercial breeding and training.
After leaving the racing scene and moving to Cairns in Far Nth Queensland in 1995 I was very thin weighing only 55kg, at 172cm I looked like a willow stick. I joined a gym, learned new eating habits and was set up with my first program to get me started and gain some shape. I loved it, I could eat heaps. Though this took a lil' getting use to being allowed to and as for the weights, I took to them like a duck to water.
1997 I entered my first competition, I placed 3rd and I had a ball. After this I was definitely hooked and I then graced the stage every year till 2002 when I move down to Brisbane so I could get right in amongst it.
I've been training now for 15 years, I like both cardio and weight training (preferring free weights}.
I love animals, their companionship alone can lift the lowest of spirits. My dog Bev_Lee {best lil' cardio buddy one could wish for}, can't help but smile with her around.
Where I’m heading...
In 2007 it was time to reinvent myself. I think the transition from physique to figure has been a positive move in the right direction.
My goal is still to represent Australia in women's competitions with distinction at an International level and after my great results in 2008 with a 3rd in the Worlds (Greece) and a National win, I know I am now ready to take the next step abroad.
Each time I hear that I’ve inspired another person to pursue their goals and dreams I encourage them more, as it motivates me to press on with my goals and dreams. I do it because I love it, it’s something that I can put a positive focus on in my life. As a PT I can help others do the same.
